“Robin’s take on science is human, funny but also deeply enthralling.”

Professor Alice Roberts

Join us for our first ‘in person’ event of the year with hilarious comedian and radio presenter Robin Ince celebrating his brilliant new book The Importance of Being Interested: Adventures in Scientific Curiosity, published in October. Robin is co-creator and co-host of the award-winning BBC Radio 4 series The Infinite Monkey Cage with Professor Brian Cox and the Book Shambles podcast with Josie Long. The event will be one in Robin’s #100Bookshops tour of the UK!

In The Importance of Being Interested, Robin charts his own journey with science – from uninspiring lessons at school to hosting one of the world’s most popular science podcasts – and reveals why scientific wonder isn’t just for the professionals. Filled with interviews featuring astronauts, comedians, teachers, quantum physicists, neuroscientists and more, The Importance of Being Interested explores why many wrongly think of the discipline as distant and difficult. From the glorious appeal of the stars above to why scientific curiosity can encourage much needed intellectual humility, this optimistic and profound book will leave you filled with a thirst for intellectual adventure.
